Sludge pond containment using CSV
Wolfgang Oltmanns and Hans-Günther Dymek

This paper presents the technical solutions of in situ containment of substrates in a sludge pond filled with materials of various chemico-physical properties.

In order to establish containment and to reduce pollution as well as the operational costs, it was decided to install a capping system. To achieve the necessary bearing capacity of the basins and the proper functioning, the substrates had to be stabilized by combined soil stabilization using vertical columns (‘CSV’).

Key words: combined soil stabilization with vertical columns, containment, sludge pond
